Valarie Tang
Valarie and I started working together at Arc'teryx in 1998. Valarie eventually joined FYi, and Susanna, Valarie and I worked on hundreds of projects together, across Arc'teryx, Aether, Patagonia, Burton AK, and more. 25 years later... and it's time for Valarie to hang up her scissors, and enjoy life. One of our first projects together at Arc'teryx was the 'Sidewinder' jacket, which featured an asymmetrical thermoset curved zipper as a design objective. So as a final project, we queued up a one-off modern Sidewinder to properly bookend our incredible run together. We had just enough of the original Citrus Gore-Tex left to build one jacket.. and here it is:
Val is one of the most talented Softgoods Design Engineers in the business. Her contribution to FYi, and our clients, can't be overstated. Working in a flow-state with Val has been an absolute personal highlight of my career. While celebrating the retirement of a legend feels wholly inadequate, we're soo happy to see her go travel the world! She'll be greatly missed by the whole team at FYi.
